A closed channel builds suction and pulls, an open one lets the air escape. The resistance therefore stays even along the full length, and you set the pressure through your hand alone. A channel that runs right through is also far easier to clean, because water simply passes along it.

The material is called ULTRASKYN and is among the softest Doc Johnson works with. It warms up quickly and gives under pressure, but it is porous: water-based lubricant belongs with it, silicone lubricant does not. Once dry, a little cornstarch keeps the surface velvety. An open end is easier to clean and lets you set the pressure yourself. A closed one pulls harder, but you have to let the air escape as you push in. If you want to try both, the range holds models built either way.

How do I clean it?

Run warm water through the channel, go over it with mild soap or toy cleaner and let it dry completely. Because both ends are open it dries faster than a closed model.

Why does the surface turn tacky?

Soft materials do that as they dry. A thin layer of cornstarch absorbs the moisture and restores the velvety surface. Baby powder containing talc is not suitable for this.

How do I store it?

Dry, on its own and not squashed. Soft material takes on pressure marks if it is left deformed, and should not be in direct contact with other soft-material toys. A fabric pouch beats a plastic bag, as no moisture is left standing inside. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiator heat as well.

https://www.dildodave.de/en/products/masturbator-doc-johnson-cum-dumpster-ultraskyn-natural-14-x-7-6-cm
