🧵 Polyamide instead of cotton

A polyamide shirt sits differently on the body from a cotton one: it is thinner, smoother and follows the shape instead of hanging over it. The elastane content lets it stretch as you move and return afterwards – that is exactly what sets erotic menswear apart from an everyday shirt.

🏋️ What the cut does

Close-fitting shirts trace the shoulders and chest and make the waist look narrower. That is not magic but fabric guidance – and it works regardless of how much time you spend at the gym.

Which size do I take?

With stretch material, your usual size rather than one up. Bought too large, a close-fitting shirt loses precisely the effect it is made for. When in doubt, measure your chest and go by that, not by the label in your last shirt.

Can it be worn every day?

A black shirt, certainly – under a shirt or a jacket it does not stand out. Menswear is not necessarily costume; much of it works as normal clothing, just with a better fit.

How do I wash it?

By hand in lukewarm water or in a mesh bag on a gentle cycle. No fabric softener, no tumble dryer – both attack the elastane and cost it its recovery. Lay it flat to dry or hang it loosely.

Why does elastane lose its stretch?

Through heat and detergent residue. A shirt that goes baggy after a few washes has usually been washed too hot or spent too long in the dryer. At 30 degrees and without softener the fabric holds its shape for years.

Why black works particularly well

Because it softens contrasts and combines with everything. With close-fitting underwear there is also this: black emphasises contours without showing every crease – pale colours forgive considerably less here.

How often should underwear be replaced?

Once the waistband goes slack or the fabric thins, its time is up – with close-fitting pieces you notice that faster than with loose ones. Well cared for, a polyamide shirt lasts considerably longer than cotton in the same price bracket.

What helps against odour in synthetic fabric?

Wash it promptly, do not leave it lying, and skip the fabric softener – it settles on the fibre and seals odours in rather than washing them out. A dash of vinegar in the rinse works better on stubborn cases than any fragrance.

What do you wear over it?

Anything you would wear anyway. The appeal lies in the fact that nobody sees it – until they do.
