They close with a pin buckle like a belt and are joined by a connector of two short riveted straps, chain links and snap hooks that keeps the feet apart. The cuffs are top-stitched along the edges, and the metal parts are dark. Anyone with very slim or very strong ankles checks before the first time that the adjustment range fits.
