These Darby handcuffs by Steel follow an old design in solid stainless steel. Each cuff consists of a round bow with a toothed end and a lock bar into which the bow clicks at one of five steps. That way you set the width to suit the wrist. They are opened with a screw key that is turned into the lock. The two cuffs are joined by a few short chain links with a swivel in the middle. They stand under handcuffs, with BDSM sex toys, under bondage and with the sex toys.

How do you put them on correctly?

With a finger’s width of room. Place the bow round the wrist and press it into the bar until it clicks. Afterwards a finger must still fit between metal and skin, because too tight presses on nerves and blood vessels. If in doubt, choose the next wider step.

What do you need to watch for safety?

The key, circulation and a stop signal. Before closing, put the screw key in a fixed place within reach, because steel cannot be cut open in an emergency. Check regularly that hands and fingers stay warm and mobile; at tingling, numbness or discolouration you open them at once. Whoever is cuffed is never left alone and does not stay in the same position for long. Agree on a stop signal beforehand that works without free hands.

How much movement do the hands keep?

Little. The short connection keeps the wrists close together, but the swivel lets them turn against each other a little. The length is not enough for tying round a post or a bed frame.

How do you look after them?

With a damp cloth and thorough drying. Wipe bows, teeth and bar after play and do not leave water standing in the lock. Stainless steel does not rust. Keep the key together with the handcuffs so that it is never missing.
