The Black Handcuffs by Darkness are wide imitation leather cuffs with a pin buckle and three D-rings on each cuff; they are joined by a short metal chain with snap hook. The three rings sit riveted one above the other on a stitched centre strip, and the strap has a whole row of holes for the buckle pin. Unlike a metal shackle, a wide cuff spreads the pull over a larger area and does not tighten further by itself. Whoever is restrained is never left alone, not even briefly. So that two fingers fit between cuff and skin, and not a millimetre tighter. Open them at once if there is numbness, tingling, coldness or pale skin, and check in between that everything still sits loosely.

How are they put on?

Open the buckle, lay the cuff around the wrist and pull the strap through the buckle until the pin sits in the right hole. Only once both cuffs are closed is the chain clipped into one of the rings with the snap hook.

Scissors that open everything in seconds if needed, should a buckle jam. Undo the chain’s snap hook first, then the buckles.
