What do I need to bear in mind when lighting it?

A safe spot and your attention. The candle only burns while you are in the room, on a firm, heat-resistant surface and away from curtains, cushions or paper. Children and pets cannot get near it.

How do I check the temperature?

On your wrist, after putting it out. Blow out the flame, let the wax cool briefly and drip a little onto the inside of your wrist. If the warmth is right, pour it from a low height onto the back or shoulders. The face, mucous membranes and broken skin are off limits.

Will I tolerate clove and lavender?

A test in the crook of your arm will tell you. Strong notes such as clove can irritate sensitive skin. Apply a little melted wax, wait a few hours and only then massage larger areas, provided nothing itches or turns red.

Does it work with condoms?

Not with latex. The melted wax is oily, and oil weakens latex so that condoms can tear. For intercourse a water-based lubricant is the right choice; the candle is not made for that.

How do I protect sheets and clothes?

With a towel underneath. Any oil that lands on fabric soaks in and stays visible as a grease mark; before washing, it helps to soak the spot with a little washing-up liquid.
