What is the best way to apply the oil?

Warmed and in small portions. Pour some oil into your hand and rub your palms together until it no longer feels cool. Then spread it with long strokes and only add more when your hands start to catch on the skin. That way there is enough grip left for a firm massage.

Is the oil also a lubricant?

No. It is made for the skin and does not belong on mucous membranes. It does not go with condoms either: oil attacks latex, and latex condoms and diaphragms can tear. A lubricant that suits condoms is under water-based lubricant.

Does it leave stains?

On fabric, yes. Oil soaks into bedding, upholstery and clothing and stays there as a grease stain. A large bath towel under the body is the simplest solution. Anything that still goes astray, rub with washing-up liquid or ox-gall soap before washing.
