So the tights can stay on during sex. On a practical level the opening also saves pulling them down on the toilet.

Can you tell under clothing that they are open?

No. Under a skirt or dress they look like an ordinary pair of beige sheer tights; the opening only shows when the skirt comes off.

Which sizes are they made for?

For dress sizes EU 34 to 40. The opening should sit centrally in the crotch, so first pull both legs up evenly and adjust the waistband last.
