Sex Toys on Sale – How to Spot a Real Bargain

black friday shopping guide

At the end of November the internet turns red: Black Friday, Black Week, Cyber Monday. Percentage signs everywhere, and every countdown claims that tomorrow will be too late. With sex toys a second look pays off in particular, because a toy that was cheap and feels bad is not a bargain – it is electronic waste with a detour through your bedside drawer. Reduced items are not limited to one weekend, by the way: in our sex toy SALE several thousand items from every category are permanently marked down. This checklist shows you how to recognise a good deal.

🏷️ The percentage is not the price

“60 percent off” sounds huge – but 60 percent off what? A struck-through price is only worth as much as the number that was crossed out. Some retailers cross out a recommended retail price that hardly anyone ever charged. Since 2022, Germany therefore has a clear rule: anyone advertising a price reduction must show the lowest price of the previous 30 days as the reference. A shop that raises prices shortly before a sale day in order to “cut” them afterwards breaks that rule.

For you this means: ignore the percentage sign and look at the final price. Compare it with what you would normally pay for a similar toy made of the same material. Only then do you know whether the discount is worth it.

🧪 Material beats discount

The biggest difference between a good and a bad purchase lies not in the price but in the material. Body-safe silicone is non-porous, tasteless and can be boiled. Glass is non-porous too and lasts practically forever if handled with care. Soft blends such as TPE or TPR feel pleasant but are more porous and need more care. That is not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it belongs in your calculation: a toy that lasts five years often ends up cheaper than two that are retired after six months.

A strong chemical smell when unpacking is a warning sign. Which materials exist and how they differ is explained in our sex toy materials comparison.

📏 Calculate per piece and per millilitre

For consumables, the pack price is not what counts – the unit price is, meaning the price per piece or per 100 millilitres. For lubricants and condoms it is shown right on the product page. Bulk packs are almost always the cheapest option: the Durex Natural pack of 144 is much cheaper per condom than the small box. A 200 ml water-based lubricant is the sensible stock size, because water-based gels absorb faster and you use more of them.

One catch remains: condoms have an expiry date, and lubricant does not last forever once opened. So only buy as much as you will really use before it expires. Our condom size guide tells you which size fits – a bulk pack in the wrong width is the most expensive deal of all.

📦 Sets: when the extras are already included

Many toys need a companion, usually a matching lubricant. This is exactly where value sets save money: several items that cost less together than separately, ordered as one item and delivered in one parcel. Three examples:

  • The realistic dildo value set combines a dildo made of body-safe silicone (23 x Ø 4.5 cm) with 200 ml of water-based lubricant that does not attack the surface.
  • The glass dildo value set contains a glass dildo (18.5 x 3 cm) with a silicone lubricant. That suits glass – but the same bottle does not belong on a silicone toy.
  • The strap-on value set includes an adjustable harness with dildo (18 x Ø 4.5 cm) and a large bottle of water-based lubricant.

The cross-check is simple: would you buy every part of the set on its own? If yes, the set is a real deal. If one part is just filler you will never use, the saving shrinks. More in our overview of our value sets.

✅ The bargain checklist

  • Final price, not percentage: compare with the lowest price of the last 30 days.
  • Check the material: silicone and glass last longer than soft blends.
  • Read the dimensions: length and diameter are listed for every toy – a discount does not make an oversized model fit better.
  • Think about extras: does your lubricant suit the material? Does the toy need batteries or a charging cable?
  • Compare unit prices: for condoms and lubricant, the price per piece or millilitre is what counts.
  • Ignore the countdown: if you do not know what you want, time pressure makes you buy the wrong thing.

❓ Frequently asked questions

🛍️ Are sex toys really cheaper on Black Friday?

Sometimes, but not automatically. Many shops reduce prices all year round. What matters is the comparison with the price of the last 30 days – which the retailer has to state when advertising a reduction.

📦 Is a bulk pack of condoms worth it?

Yes, if the size is right and you use up the pack before the expiry date. Per piece, the bulk pack is the cheapest way to buy condoms. Store them somewhere dry and cool.

🤔 Is a cheap toy automatically worse?

No. A simple silicone toy can be affordable and still durable. It gets expensive when the material is poor or the toy does not suit you. You will find ideas among our sex toys under 30 euros.

🧭 How do I find out what suits me in the first place?

Ideally before the sale starts. Our sex toy advisor guides you to suitable categories in a few questions. With that list in mind, you can enter any discount week relaxed.

✅ Conclusion

A real bargain is a toy you will use often and for a long time, at a price below the usual one. Percentage signs and countdowns say little about that. Pay attention to material, dimensions and the price of the last 30 days, use the unit price for consumables and choose sets when you genuinely need every part. Then you save for real, not just on paper.
