💙 Realistic & classic dildos – the versatile all-rounder
This category brings two worlds together: true-to-life models with veins, a glans and texture, and puristic classics with a smooth, even shape. Both convince with uncomplicated handling and a wide range of uses.
What defines these dildos
- Realistic: rich detail in looks and feel for a natural sensation.
- Classic: pared-back shapes that concentrate on pure stimulation.
- Many models with a suction base for hands-free play or for use with a strap-on.
📏 Girth counts for more than length
When buying, almost everyone looks at the length, but what you actually feel is the girth. How deep a dildo goes is up to you anyway – how full it feels is decided by the manufacturer. For getting started, a comfortable range is around three to four centimetres in diameter; anything beyond that takes getting used to and considerably more lubricant. Also bear in mind that the manufacturer's figure is the total length: depending on the model, two to three centimetres of that is the suction base, which is never in play.
🧭 Realistic or classic – the difference in practice
Realistic models have a pronounced glans and a textured shaft. The ridge at the transition creates a clearly noticeable sensation going in and out, but it makes the start somewhat more demanding. Classic shapes run evenly through and therefore glide more calmly – more comfortable for long sessions and for anyone who likes it understated. The suction base is worth a second look: only a genuinely flat, wide base holds on tiles or a bathtub, and only a base with a straight back fits securely into a strap-on harness.
Tips on material and use
Body-safe silicone is easy to clean and feels pleasantly warm. Always use a water-based lubricant so everything glides smoothly, and warm the toy briefly in your hand if you like. Smaller sizes suit the start and you can move up later if you want to. If you prefer cooler, hard surfaces, take a look at glass and ceramic dildos. How best to use your toy during solo play is shown in our big dildo guide.
🚨 Cleaning
After every use, clean with lukewarm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, on realistic models especially in the groove under the glans and around the suction base. Then let it dry completely and store it separately – silicone parts left touching each other dissolve into one another over time. Silicone belongs exclusively with water-based lubricant; gel containing silicone roughens the surface.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Which size suits a beginner?
Look at the diameter, not the length. Around three to four centimetres is a good starting range – how deep you go is up to you.
Realistic or classic – which is more beginner-friendly?
Classic. The even shape glides more calmly, whereas the ridge at the glans of realistic models is noticeably more demanding at the start.
Does the suction base really hold?
Only on a smooth, seamless surface and with a flat, wide base. On tile grouting, woodchip wallpaper or wood, no suction cup holds reliably.
Does every dildo with a suction base fit a strap-on?
No. The base needs a straight, flat back. Domed suction bases slip inside the harness and sit crooked.
How is it delivered?
In neutral packaging that gives no clue as to the contents, and the same applies to the debit on your bank statement.
