The Tactical Ankle Cuffs by Fort Troff and Doc Johnson do without a buckle: they close with a wide Velcro strap, are lined with soft neoprene and adjust steplessly to the ankle. On the outside they are printed with stripes and a military-style badge. Each cuff has a riveted metal D-ring, and instead of a fixed chain there are carabiners: they can be clipped to each other, to a strap or to furniture, and they come open with one hand. Because no metal lies on the skin, the pull spreads across the full width of the cuff. Never leave anyone restrained alone, not even briefly. How tightly may they sit?

So that two fingers fit underneath, and not a millimetre tighter. Set the fit before you start, not midway. Open them at once if there is numbness, coldness or pale skin.

How do you get them off quickly?

Pull the Velcro open and that is it; no key is needed. If they hang on a carabiner, undo the carabiner first and then the cuff. Scissors are still within reach from the start.

What should be discussed beforehand?

Limits and a safeword. A safeword is a word that is not part of the play and at which everything stops at once: no questions, no discussion. Along with an agreement on what is allowed in this session and what is not. Both are settled soberly and in advance, not in the middle of things. Anyone gagged needs a signal instead of a word.

How are they cleaned?

Spray them with a toy cleaner or wash them with mild soap and warm water, then let them dry completely and store them away from other toys in a cool, dry place. Close the Velcro before washing so that no fluff gets caught in it.
