Do the straps press?

Not if they lie flat. Smooth each strap once before closing; twisted bands are the only reason a cut like this becomes uncomfortable.

How does the size come out?

How is it washed?

By hand at thirty degrees, with a delicate detergent and no softener. In the machine only inside a laundry bag on a gentle cycle; a tumble dryer ruins the elastic.
