The Bed Sheet Underlay Scandal by CalExotics is a glossy red PVC sheet that goes over the bed or mattress. The film is smooth and soft enough to drape over the edges; the red is strong and even, without a pattern. Is the underlay waterproof?

Yes. Liquids stay on the surface, do not soak into the mattress and can simply be wiped off afterwards instead of soaking through as they would with a towel. Larger amounts collect in hollows, so keep a towel ready to soak them up.

Does it feel cold?

At first, yes, PVC is cool. After a short while it takes on body heat; if you do not like that, put a blanket underneath or warm the room beforehand.

Is the surface slippery?

Yes, and even more so with oil. Kneeling on it gives less grip than on fabric, and before getting up, wipe hands and feet so that nobody slips on the floor.

Can it take heat?

No. PVC goes soft and loses its shape in heat, so candles and radiant heaters keep their distance, and the underlay is not stored in the sun or on a radiator.

What goes with it?

The Scandal range also includes bed restraint sets with straps under the mattress, a strap cross over the bed and bondage tape in red and black.

How is it cleaned?

Wipe it with a damp cloth, with a little washing-up liquid in the water after oil, and wipe it dry. Then store it flat or rolled, not folded, because creases stay in PVC.

Does it slip on the bed?
