How do you put the condom on properly?

Open the foil with your fingers; teeth, sharp fingernails and scissors can damage the condom. Hold the reservoir between two fingers so that no air is trapped, place the condom on the erect penis and roll it all the way down to the base. The rolled rim faces outwards; if it is on the inside, take a fresh condom. After climax, hold the rim and withdraw before the erection subsides.

How do you find the right size?

By the nominal width, not the length. It means the width of the condom lying flat. A condom that is too wide can slip off; one that is too tight pinches and tears more easily.

Can you add lubricant?

Yes, as long as it is water- or silicone-based. Greasy products such as massage oil, petroleum jelly, baby oil or skin cream attack latex and make the condom permeable. Suitable lubricant is listed under water-based lubricant.

Where is the best place to keep them?

In a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Heat, pressure and friction wear the material, so a trouser pocket, wallet or car are not good places. The expiry date is printed on every foil; once it has passed, do not use the condom any more.

How safe is the protection?

No condom protects one hundred per cent. Used correctly, it lowers the risk of sexually transmitted infections and of unplanned parenthood. If you notice that it has torn or slipped, stop and use a fresh condom.
