Why more lubricant?

Because dry friction quickly makes a condom unpleasant. With more lubricant on the condom you need to top up less often.

Is that enough without extra gel?

For much of it, yes. For long sex or anal sex you still add lubricant.

How safe are they?

No condom protects one hundred per cent. Used correctly, it lowers the risk of sexually transmitted infections and of becoming a parent unintentionally. Correctly means: put it on before any contact, pinch the tip while rolling it down so no air stays inside, and use a new one every time.

Which lubricant goes with them?

A water-based one from water-based lubricant. Oil, massage oil and greasy creams attack polyisoprene just as they attack latex; the condom turns porous without you seeing it.

How are they stored?

Dry and protected from sunlight, so rather in the bedside drawer than in a wallet or trouser pocket, where warmth and friction wear on the foil.

How do you tell whether it fits?

A condom fits when it neither constricts nor slips. If either happens, it is the width and not the variety; other widths are under condoms.

How is the foil opened?

At the serrated edge and with your fingers, never with teeth or scissors. Small tears from opening cannot be seen on the condom afterwards.
