Why is the lettering mirrored?

So that the word reads the right way round if the slapper shows as redness on the skin after a stroke. Whether and how clearly that happens depends on the skin and the force; it is no reason to strike harder.

Where may it land?

Only on well padded muscle areas, meaning buttocks and thighs. Head, face, neck, spine, kidneys, joints and genitals are off limits, and injured or irritated skin is never struck. A crop strikes in one spot and more sharply than a flogger, so dose it even more carefully: start with very little force and build up slowly.
