Why are the shafts different lengths?

Because the openings do not sit at the same depth. Two shafts of equal length both arrive too early or both too late.

Is more lubricant needed than usual?

Markedly more. Two shafts means two places - and at the rear one the body produces none of its own.

Does it fit a harness?

Yes, the suction foot doubles as a base. It holds in the O-ring of common harnesses without anything having to be converted.

Why does the wide base matter?
