No. The box says so explicitly: two AAA batteries are needed and are not included. Suitable ones are in the drugstore section. If you would rather charge, take the Flippy II - it is otherwise identical and half a centimetre slimmer.

Do batteries last longer than a rechargeable cell?

In total, yes. An empty cell means a break, empty batteries mean a swap - if you keep spares in the house, this build never leaves you stranded.

What is the loop for?

For getting it out. A vibrating egg disappears completely inside the body; without a retrieval loop that becomes unpleasant. It should stay outside and not be inserted with the egg.

How far does the remote reach?
