What matters when wearing it?

Even with the mouth held open, the nose must stay clear the whole time; with a cold, a blocked nose or after alcohol the gag stays off. Before it goes on, agree a sign without words, for example three clear taps, and it applies at once. Anyone who is gagged is not left alone for a moment. At any shortness of breath, nausea or panic the gag comes off immediately.

How long may it stay in?

Only for short spells. Held wide open, the jaw tires quickly; take it out in between, close the mouth and let the jaw muscles relax. Saliva runs through the opening and from the corners of the mouth, which is normal; best keep a towel ready.

How wide does the mouth have to open?

Only as far as it goes without pressure. If the mouthpiece only fits with force or pulls at the jaw joint, the jaw is overstretched and the gag stays off. The strap is closed through the holes so that the mouthpiece sits centred without slipping; a finger should still fit underneath.

How is it cleaned?

Wash the silicone, that is the mouthpiece including the inside of the opening, with warm water and mild soap after every use, rinse well and leave to air dry. Only wipe the faux leather strap with a damp cloth; it does not tolerate heat, oil or the washing machine.

Is this something for beginners?

Yes, if the first try is a calm one: put it on, adjust it and open it again straight away, so both of you know how quickly it comes off. If you later add restraints, you will find them under bondage; with tied hands you need a stop sign that still works, such as dropping a small object.
