The Fisting Powder Lube from the Fist Assist range by Cobeco is a lubricant in powder form that you mix into a gel yourself with water. Nothing gets wet by itself anally, and everything else follows from that. Take more than you think you need, and top up in between rather than waiting until it gets uncomfortable. Numbing is no help here: pain during anal sex is a warning sign, and anyone who numbs it away notices an injury only later. A good lubricant works through glide, not through sensation. The rest is patience: the sphincter opens when you give it time, not when you push. Powder instead of a bottle is the more practical form for large quantities: the tub makes many litres of gel, and whatever you do not mix stays dry in the tub. Stir the powder briskly into lukewarm water and wait until it has fully dissolved. You set the consistency yourself through the amount of powder, and that is exactly the advantage: thin to start with, thick for what takes longer. Mixed gel only keeps for a short time, so only mix as much as you need. As it is water-based, it gets on with condoms, gloves and silicone toys. What is in the powder?

Only sodium polyacrylate, a powder that binds water and swells into a gel as it does. It contains no further additives such as fragrance or preservatives.

How do you test whether it suits you?

Before using it regularly, massage a little mixed gel into the inside of your forearm and wait. If the skin reddens, itches or burns, do not use it.

How do you store the powder?

Tightly closed, dry, cool and dark, at 10 to 25 °C and out of reach of children. Only take it out with a dry teaspoon, because even a little moisture makes it clump in the tub.

What do you do with leftovers?

Do not pour larger amounts of mixed gel down the drain, as it can block it. A little table salt turns the gel liquid again, after which it can be rinsed away.
