Does the bead string have to be used?

No, it simply rests there once the rest is seated. Anyone who does not want it turns the device so the string points outwards and uses only the shaft and the arm. Anyone who does want it needs plenty of lubricant, because otherwise the beads will not follow by themselves.

What is different about the golden tongue?
