The Merci Play Cuffs by Doc Johnson are cast from one piece of silicone: two rings with a bridge between them, no buckle, no seam. The bridge is short and narrower in the middle, so the wrists lie close together; the surface is matt. They are stretched and pulled on; to do so, the hand is made narrow and the thumb laid against the palm. A slip-on ring is less binding than a buckle or a lock and for a start the friendlier design. Never leave anyone restrained alone, not even briefly. Silicone is non-porous and can be cleaned completely; with something worn directly on the skin that counts double. How tightly may they sit?

So that two fingers fit underneath, and not a millimetre tighter. Silicone gives, but a ring that is too tight still constricts, especially when someone pulls. Take them off at once if there is numbness, coldness or pale skin.

How do you get them off again?

Stretch the ring and pull the hand out; no key is needed. If it ever sticks, scissors cut through the silicone in seconds, which is why they are within reach from the start.

What should be discussed beforehand?

Limits and a safeword. A safeword is a word that is not part of the play and at which everything stops at once: no questions, no discussion.
