Strongly coloured handcuffs by Ouch! from the Classic Metal range. The paint covers the cuffs, both lock housings and all three chain links in one even, rich pink; only the keys stay silver. In construction they match classic handcuffs: two round cuffs with a swinging bow, ratchet closure and keyhole, joined by a short chain of long oval links. How do you put them on?

Place the cuff on the wrist and push the bow through the housing until it clicks audibly. Each further notch makes the ring smaller, so go in small steps and stop as soon as one finger still fits between metal and skin.

How do you practise beforehand?

Close and open the handcuffs a few times without a wrist until bow and key feel familiar. That way you know how much force the click takes and which way the key turns.

Where do the keys go?

One stays within reach of the person who is not restrained, the second in a fixed place, so a mislaid key never becomes a problem. Without a key within reach, the cuffs are not closed at all.

What do you watch for during play?

Check regularly that the hands stay warm and feel normal. Tingling, numbness, cold, discolouration or pain mean: unlock at once. The cuffs carry no body weight; nobody hangs from them or pulls hard on them. Nobody restrained is ever left alone, and an agreed stop signal applies without question.
