How do you open the cuffs?

With one of the keys in the keyhole on the housing. A turn releases the ratchet, and the bow swings out again.

How tight may they sit?

Only push the bow closed so far that one finger fits between metal and wrist. Once engaged, the ratchet only goes tighter, not looser; push too far and you need the key. Pressure from outside, for instance lying on the hands, can also tighten a cuff by a notch, so check the fit now and then.

What about the keys?

One key lies within your reach during play, the second in a fixed place you both know. Try opening once beforehand without a wrist inside, so every move is second nature if it matters.

What else do you watch for?

Metal does not give. At tingling, numbness, cold, discolouration or pain in the hand, unlock at once. Nobody hangs their body weight in the cuffs or is fastened anywhere that creates a pull, and nobody restrained is ever left alone. A stop signal agreed beforehand ends play without discussion.

How do you look after the paint?
