The article stood in the shop as a „massage oil on a water base“ - there is no such thing, and the bottle says otherwise too. It reads medical lubricant and below that Glide + Massage 2 in 1. So it is a water gel good for both, and not an oil. The difference is no quibble: oil makes latex condoms unsafe, a water gel does not. Anyone working with a condom or using silicone toys is on the safe side here. For massage the consistency is set a little more pleasingly than in the pure lubricant; it does not soak in like an oil but stays on the surface and washes off with water afterwards - no greasy sheets. The rest of the equipment is the range's: pH-optimized, dermatologically and clinically tested, made in Germany, in a pump flask with one-hand operation. It stands with lubricant, under water-based lubricant, with massage products and in the drugstore section.

So is this an oil or a gel?

A gel on a water base. The old title said „massage oil“, the bottle says „medical lubricant“ - and an oil on a water base would be a contradiction in itself.

What good is a water gel for massage?

It glides without soaking in and comes off again afterwards with water. An oil cares for the skin more but leaves stains and does not get on with condoms.

What does „medical lubricant“ mean?

It is printed on every tube of the range and is a classification, not a health claim: pH-optimized, dermatologically and clinically tested, meant for mucous membranes. A medicine it is not.

Does it get on with toys and condoms?

With both. That is the advantage of a water base: silicone oil attacks silicone toys, oil makes condoms unsafe - a water gel has neither problem.

Do you have to top it up?

On longer sessions yes, that comes with a water base. The gel dries in over time; a few drops of water bring it back, and topping up works as well.

Where is it made?

In Germany - JoyDivision prints „Made with Love in Germany“ on the packaging. With lubricants that is no footnote: the ingredient list is therefore declared under German cosmetics law.
