The multi-row pinwheel by Steel comes in three stainless steel versions that differ in the number and arrangement of the spiked wheels. The first model has three wheels close together, the second five. The third, the DUO, carries two single wheels at the ends of a U-shaped bracket and so draws two parallel lines with a gap between them. All run in a fork at the end of a slim handle, which is ribbed on the three-wheel and two-wheel versions and smooth on the five-wheel one. Which version suits me?

That depends on the track you want. Three wheels draw a narrow track, five a broad one, where the pressure is spread over especially many pins and each point feels milder. The DUO sets two separate, distinct lines side by side, rather like two fingers running over the skin at once.

How is it guided?

Set it down lightly and let it roll. Hold the handle loosely and do not press, its own weight is often enough. Slow, long strokes over the back, arms, buttocks or thighs feel more intense than quick back and forth. Anyone using it for the first time tries it on their own forearm beforehand.

Where must it not go?

Never on mucous membranes, eyes, face or genitals. The spine, joints and injured or irritated skin are off limits too. The pins are pointed and can scratch the skin under too much pressure; if blood appears, stop at once.

How is it cleaned?
