What stops it from slipping in?

The perineum arm. Only a toy with a flared base is suitable for anal use, because the sphincter can draw anything without a stop all the way inside. On the Hugo 2 this stop is formed by the perineum arm, which is clearly wider than the neck and stays outside.

How do you best get started?

With calm, pauses and lots of lubricant.
