Thirty centimetres - how big is the piece really?

It is that long only laid out flat, from the tip of the ring to the end of the plug. Worn, the ring sits at the root, the strap runs backwards and only the slim plug goes in. The figure is the length of the whole piece, not the insertion depth.

Which way must the curve point?

Forward, towards the belly. The prostate sits about five centimetres behind the entrance on the belly side; anyone inserting the device the wrong way round feels a lot of the motor and nothing of the spot.

How is it cleaned?
