Which door is suitable?

A sturdy, solid door in a firm frame, not a light hollow-core door and not a glass door. It has to open outwards from the side the swing hangs on, so away from you: then your weight presses it against the stop in the frame and not against the lock. Lock it before anyone gets in, so that nobody opens it from the other side.

What needs doing before the first time?

Adjust the straps to length, check that tubes and straps are secure and load the swing once with full body weight while someone is still standing by. Then practise getting out, because you do not get out of a swing as quickly as you get in. Repeat the check before every use: take a quick look at the door, tubes and seams.

How long can you stay in it?
