What is the seam at the back for?

It is pure looks and a quotation: into the 1950s every stocking had one, because it was knitted flat and then sewn together. Today they are knitted round - the seam is worked in because it makes the leg look longer.

What holds a hold-up stocking up?

A silicone strip inside the band. It needs grease-free skin: anyone moisturising first will not wonder for long about slipping stockings. So the stockings first, the care for everything else afterwards.

What does one size mean here?
