This suspender belt by LEG AVENUE is made almost entirely of straps: from the narrow hip band, golden lurex straps run diagonally over the belly, cross at the front into an open lattice and lead at the sides to a second band that lies across the thigh. From there the suspenders run down to four clips, two at the front and two at the back. The gold glitters because metallic-coated threads run through the band. At the centre back there is a small gold clasp on the hip band. The stockings, briefs and top shown in the pictures are not included. Over or under the briefs?

Both work. Worn under the briefs, the belt stays in place when you go to the loo and only the briefs have to come down. Worn over them, the whole strap lattice is on show, and that is exactly what this model is made for.

How do the stockings clip in?

Lay the reinforced welt of the stocking over the little button, press it against it from behind and slide the loop over it. Always set the clip in this welt, never in the thin knit below it, or a ladder will start there. Hold-ups can be clipped in the same way; their grip band then holds as well.

Does the one size fit?

It is meant for EU 34 to 40. The lurex bands are elastic and give with the body. If the hip band cuts in, it is usually sitting too high; a little lower on the hip it lies flat.

Can I wear it without stockings?

Yes. Then it works like body jewellery: the golden straps draw a pattern over hip and thigh, and the clips hang free. With high-cut briefs or a body this comes into its own.

How do I care for lurex?

Most gently by hand in cold water with a little mild detergent, then dried flat. Hot water and the tumble dryer dull the shine, and in the washing machine the metal clips catch on the rest of the laundry.

What goes with it?

Stockings with a wide welt, ideally with glitter yarn, and a piece from for down there or for the top. Nothing more is needed; here the belt is the eye-catching piece.
