Why is the button on the base?

Because the shaft is meant to stay smooth. A button on the shaft presses on insertion, one on the base does not; in return the hand has to reach back to switch. On a device without an arm that is the better trade.

How strong is the curve?

Distinct but not extreme. Held correctly it points forwards towards the abdominal wall and therefore meets the front wall; held the other way round you feel little. The flattened side on the base shows which way is up.

Is it any good anally?

No, the retaining base is missing. The foot is flat but not wide enough to reliably prevent it slipping further. Anally, plugs with a clearly stepped base belong.

How is it cleaned?

Warm water and toy cleaner, keeping clear of the charging contacts and letting it dry completely. The only lubricant that belongs with it is water-based lubricant, because silicone-based products attack the surface.
