What does a hard surface do?

It swallows nothing. Soft material damps the vibration on its way out, hard ABS passes it on almost unchanged. That is why a slim chrome wand often feels stronger than a thicker silicone one. If you want it gentler, put a layer of fabric in between.

Does it need more lubricant than a soft model?

Yes, and that is the price of the hardness. A smooth, hard surface glides worse without a film than a soft one. Take water-based lubricant and top it up before it starts to drag; the selection is under water-based lubricant.

How easy is ABS to care for?

How is it cleaned?

Wipe it with lukewarm water and toy cleaner and let it dry, keeping the battery compartment closed. Splash proof means: rinsing yes, submerging no. Leave out abrasive cleaners and rough sponges so that the chrome layer does not get scratched. Take the battery out if it is put away for a while. Store it dry and without pressure on the base, so the twist mechanism stays smooth.
