Thrusting, vibration and a tongue at the tip: the Liberty vibrator by Armony has a spirally twisted shaft of pink silicone that moves back and forth out of a clear collar on the white handle. Right at the front sits a small flicking tongue, and a silver-coloured ring sits between collar and handle. You control six vibration modes and the thrusting with three round buttons arranged one above the other on the front of the handle, and the lithium battery charges via a USB cable. The white handle narrows towards the bottom and is rounded at the end. You set the depth with your position; the mechanism always travels the same distance. What matters the first time?

Get into position first, then switch on. Start on the lowest setting and build up slowly, because a device that thrusts does not notice when something is not right.

How much lubricant does it take?

Considerably more than a device without movement, because nothing eases off and nobody tops up. Take a water-based one, because silicone lubricant attacks the surface. The selection is under water-based lubricant.

Is it loud?

It is not silent. Where something moves mechanically you can hear it, so in a thin-walled flat the lower settings are the usable ones.

Can it go in the shower?

Yes, it is waterproof. Dry it thoroughly after rinsing before you plug in the USB cable to charge it.

How is it stored?

Dry and apart from other toys, ideally in a pouch. Soft silicone takes on colour from other materials, and in a pouch it stays free of dust and lint.

How is it cleaned?

With lukewarm water and a sex toy cleaner, especially around the rim of the clear collar. Further models are under classic vibrators.
