The Pocket Rocket Original by Doc Johnson is a compact lay-on vibrator made of phthalate-free ABS plastic in white. At the top sit three gold-coloured balls, covered by a clear cap with nubs. Below follows the body with the gold “Pocket Rocket” lettering and a twist ring with grip ridges marked OPEN, OFF and ON. The ring knows nothing beyond on and off, so there is no choice of settings. It runs on one AA battery. The bottom end is ribbed lengthwise and gives your fingers a hold when you turn the ring. It is designed for placing on the clitoris and other sensitive spots, not for insertion. It sits under vibrators, under lay-on vibrators and in our sextoys for women section.

With or without the nubbed cap?

Both work. With the cap on, the clear nubs touch you; without it, the three balls do so directly, which feels more pinpointed. The cap is simply pushed on, so you take it off and put it back whenever you like.

Which lubricant goes with it?

Water-based lubricant gets on with all toy materials, including the plastic and the cap, and washes off easily. You will find a selection under water-based lubricant.

How do you clean it?

Pull off the nubbed cap and wash it with warm water and mild soap. Wipe the body with a damp cloth and a sex toy cleaner instead of holding it under water, because it has a battery compartment. Then let everything dry.

What do you do when you will not need it for a while?

Take the battery out. A leaking cell can attack the contacts, and then it will not start any more. Keep it dry with the cap on and apart from other toys so that the nubs stay clean.
