The Ribbly from the Chrystalino range by Shots is ribbed: below an elongated oval head follow two strong, round ridges one above the other, before a short neck leads into the base. The black borosilicate glass is hand-blown and mirror-smooth. The glass body is held by a silicone suction base that can be removed. Attached, it sticks to smooth surfaces or sits in a strap-on harness with an O-ring. A motor in the glass provides the vibration, the battery is recharged, and it is waterproof. How do you feel the ribs?

When gliding in and out, each rib becomes a transition of its own, the glass stretches briefly and releases again. With slow movements and plenty of lubricant this change comes through best, and with the vibrator held still the vibration takes centre stage.

How do you switch it on?

Hold the button under the glass body for about three seconds, which applies to switching on as well as off. Then connect the remote with a short press on its power button, the first speed starts, and the second button takes it up to the tenth.

May it be used anally?

Only with the suction base attached, which stays outside as a stop. Check before every use that it sits firmly on the glass.

What do you need to watch with the glass?

Check it before every use for cracks, fissures and chips, especially at the ribs. If it is damaged, do not use it any more. Do not drop it on hard floors, and store it on its own and softly padded. To warm it, put it in warm water, to cool it, in the fridge. Hot water, the freezer and quick changes are off limits, and test the temperature on your wrist beforehand.

Which lubricant fits, and how do you clean it?

Water-based lubricant, because it is kind to the silicone suction base, with a selection under water-based lubricant. For cleaning, remove the base and wash both parts with warm water and a sex toy cleaner, including in the hollows between the ribs.
