How do you put them on?

Lay the cuff around the joint, pull the strap through the buckle and push the pin into the right hole. On the ankle you usually need a hole further out than on the wrist. Then hook the chain into one D-ring on each cuff.

What are the three D-rings for?

They give you several points to hook in the chain or other Ouch! restraints, for example to link wrist and ankle cuffs together. Positions like that are tiring; keep them short.

How tight may they sit?

There is always a finger’s width of room between cuff and skin. Check regularly how hands and fingers feel and what colour they are; if they turn cold, numb, tingly, pale or bluish, release them at once. Also, do not stay in the same position for long.

What else is part of staying safe?

Keep a pair of scissors within reach before you start, so that in an emergency you do not have to fiddle with the buckle. Agree on a stop signal beforehand that works without words, such as dropping an object. Whoever is tied up is never left alone. The cuffs never go around the neck and are not meant for suspension.

How do you clean them?

Wipe them with a damp cloth, rub the metal parts dry and let the cuffs air dry. Bonded leather does not take well to soaking, so it goes neither into a water bath nor into the machine.
