🔌 How a circuit comes about in the first place

E-stim only works if the current finds a way there and back. That is why you always work with two contact points – two pads, a ring plus a plug, or a bipolar toy that already has both poles built in. A single pad on its own is not felt at all. Important: the path between the two points runs right through the body. So place them close together and always on the same side of the body below the waistline, rather than left and right across the torso.

Almost everything that feels unpleasant comes down to the contact, not the intensity. Dry skin conducts poorly and the current then picks out single points – that stings instead of tingling. A conductive water-based gel spreads the pulse across the full area and gives a rounded feeling even on a low setting. Also make sure pads lie flat across their whole surface: a lifted corner concentrates the current in exactly that spot. And leave out lubricant containing silicone, it insulates.

🚨 Cleaning

Conductive toys are cleaned after every use with lukewarm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner and dried completely – moisture on contacts and plugs is the most common reason for dropouts. The control unit and the cables themselves never go into water; they are only wiped down with a damp cloth. Store cables loosely coiled rather than sharply kinked, because a break in the insulation cannot be seen from the outside. Silicone parts only tolerate water-based lubricant.

Why do I feel nothing at all?

Usually the second contact point is missing or the skin is too dry. Without a closed circuit nothing happens, and without conductive gel the pulse stays weak.

Why does it sting in one spot instead of tingling?

Then the contact is not lying flat across its whole surface. Press the pad back down, add more gel, and only turn the intensity up again afterwards.

May I use e-stim with a pacemaker?

No. With a pacemaker, a defibrillator, heart conditions, epilepsy or during pregnancy, e-stim is off limits.

Which lubricant goes with it?

A conductive water-based gel. Gels containing silicone insulate and weaken the pulse instead of spreading it.

How is it delivered?
