📐 The sizes – the point that matters most

If a condom pinches, slips or tears, the cause is almost never the make but the nominal width – the width of the condom lying flat, not its length. Pasante covers an unusually wide span here:

Which lubricant can I use with condoms?

Water-based and silicone-based – both are latex-compatible. Oil is the only real enemy: massage oil, petroleum jelly and body lotion attack latex and make the condom unsafe. Silicone-based gel is condom-safe but dulls silicone toys – that is a separate question from the condom one.

How do I tell that I have the wrong size?

If the condom slips as you move, it is too wide – the Trim range helps. If it pinches, constricts or makes the erection fade, it is too tight – then King Size. A condom that tears was usually too small, not too thin.

Are extra thick condoms safer?

Not in principle. Every approved condom meets the same standard. The thicker wall is mainly chosen for anal sex, where the stress is higher. For ordinary use a thin condom is not less safe.

What is an internal condom?

A condom inserted into the vagina before sex rather than rolled onto the penis. It can be put in well in advance, and in the latex-free version it also works with a latex allergy.

How should I store condoms?

Cool, dry and not permanently in a trouser pocket or wallet – heat and friction wear on the latex. Watch the printed expiry date, and open the foil with your fingers, never with your teeth or scissors.
