Slim going in, wide only inside: the Pump It Up anal plug from the Anal Fantasy Collection by Pipedream is an inflatable plug made of black silicone with a teardrop-shaped head, a small base and a hand pump on a hose. The head inflates mainly in width, and that is the whole point of this design. It has no motor. The surface is smooth, below the head comes a short neck above the flat, round base, and the silver-coloured release valve sits between the oval pump and the hose. Every squeeze of the pump does not undo itself: the plug is only pulled out once the air has escaped slowly through the release valve, never before. Why does an anal toy need a base?

Because the sphincter pulls inward whatever it can grip, and the rectum has no natural limit. The base stays outside and prevents exactly that. A toy without a base does not belong in anal use.

Which lubricant fits?

A water-based one, and plenty of it, more than you think you need: nothing gets wet by itself anally, and friction grows with the girth. Silicone gel does not suit silicone, it attacks the surface. The selection is under water-based lubricant, thicker ones under anal and fisting lubricant.

How do I start?

With time and in a relaxed position. Insert it deflated and only then pump, one or two squeezes at a time with a pause in between, and only as far as it stays comfortable. If it hurts, let the air out straight away rather than push through.
