How long may you use the suction?

A few minutes per side, no longer. Build up the suction in small steps. If it hurts, goes numb or the skin turns dark, lift the edge of the cylinder slightly at once to let air in and take it off. Never use suction on irritated or broken skin.

What are the rings for?

They keep the nipple in shape once the pump is off. Slide a ring of the right size from the cylinder onto the nipple before you release the cylinder. Wear the rings only briefly too, and take them off at once if it tingles, goes numb or hurts.

Which size fits?

The pump whose opening surrounds the nipple with a little margin. If the rim sits on the nipple instead of around it, take the larger one; if it finds no tight seal on the skin, take the smaller one. For the rings: firm enough to hold, but never so tight that they press.

Does lubricant help?

A touch of water-based gel on the rim of the cylinder seals better. The suction then holds with less pumping, and the rim comes away more easily when you take it off.

How do you clean the set?

Cylinders and rings with warm water and mild soap; just wipe the suction bulb with a damp cloth. Then check the cylinders for cracks and chips and do not keep using a damaged one. Let everything dry before you put it away.
