What is a brief?

Men's briefs with a little more fabric: they end flatter at the leg than a classic slip and cover more of the hip and buttocks. If you like a settled fit with plenty of coverage, this shape suits you well.

What is the pouch at the front for?

It is shaped with seams and gives the contents room instead of pressing them flat against the body. That provides support and shows a contour, which is intended with this kind of underwear.

Where does the waistband sit?

It sits on the hips rather than at the waist. Because it is wide, it spreads the pressure over a larger area than a narrow elastic and so cuts in less.

Which size fits?

Take your usual size, because one size down does not look tauter but leaves marks at the waistband and legs. With 15% elastane the fabric stretches noticeably and moves with you. If you are between two sizes, the larger one is the more comfortable choice.

How do you wash it?

Most gently by hand or on a delicate cycle at no more than 30 degrees, without fabric softener and ideally in a laundry bag. Then lay it flat to dry and leave the tumble dryer off.

Is it suitable for everyday wear?

Under close-fitting clothes the thin, smooth fabric lies flat and hardly shows. Man-made fibre absorbs less moisture than cotton, though, so on a long, warm day it feels less airy than cotton briefs.
