How do you put it in place?

Set the attachment down so that its rim touches the skin all the way round. If a gap remains on one side, part of the sonic waves is lost. Pressing hard adds nothing; it is enough to rest it loosely while the round body lies in your palm.

Which lubricant goes with it?

One from water-based lubricant. Silicone lubricant attacks silicone surfaces: over time they turn sticky and rough, and that cannot be undone. A drop on the rim of the attachment also helps it seal.
