What is the difference from the beaded version?

The links are flatter. Beads open in stages, links glide through - a matter of taste, not of quality.

Which gel goes in it?

Water-based works best. Silicone oil attacks silicone - with a silicone tip that is the only real rule.

How is it cleaned?

Taken apart and rinsed out. An applicator that cannot be taken apart never gets properly clean.
