The Merci Power Wand by Doc Johnson is a wand massager of the classic build: a long handle with control buttons and a large, round vibrating head. A purple ring sets the neck below the head apart from the handle, and three round buttons sit one above the other on the front of the handle. This version runs on a mains cable instead of a battery: it delivers constant power and never runs out halfway, in exchange for a cable coming out of the lower end of the handle. A wand is meant for external use; it rests on top rather than going in, and the large head reaches more area than a tip. Is a wand too strong?

For a start often yes, which is why you begin on the lowest setting, even knowing vibrators. A towel between head and skin takes the edge off without having to change device.

Does it go inside?

Not without an attachment: for internal use there are attachments that are pulled over the head.

Do you need lubricant?

A drop, against friction. A water-based one suits every material; the selection is under water-based lubricant.

How is it cleaned?

With lukewarm water and a sex toy cleaner at the head; the handle stays dry, because that is where the technology sits. Unplug it first.

What should you watch with the cable?

It needs a socket within reach. Lay the cable so that nobody trips over it and it does not hang from the handle under strain.

How do you hold it best?

By the handle, so that your thumb rests on the buttons. The head lies flat, and the angle of the handle decides how much pressure arrives: held more steeply it works on one spot, held flatter it spreads out.
