How is it best to start?

With little suction. Place the cylinder straight, hold it with two fingers and then turn on slowly until the pull becomes noticeable. That way you find out how sensitively you react before you build up more suction. A little water-based lubricant on the rim helps so that no air gets in; suitable ones are under water-based lubricant.

How long may a sucker stay on?

Only a few minutes at a time. Then turn back, take it off and give the skin a break; it should not come to more than 20 to 30 minutes in total. In case of pain, numbness, discolouration or blisters, release the suction at once. Do not use suction on injured or irritated skin.

Why not simply pull it off?

Because the suction is still holding. If you pull the cylinder off while there is still a vacuum inside, the rim tugs at the skin. Turn back first until it sits loosely, and then it comes away without resistance.

How do you look after the acrylic?

Warm water, mild soap, a soft cloth. The cylinders are water-resistant and contain no electronics, so you can hold them right under the tap. Avoid abrasive cleaners and rough sponges so that no scratches appear. Stored dry and free of dust, they stay clear for a long time.
