How do you put the harness on?

Open the buckles of the two side straps at the front, slip the harness on like a waistcoat and close the side straps again. Then use the buckles on the shoulder straps to set how high the crossbar sits on your chest.

How tight may it sit?

Loose enough for two fingers to fit under every strap. Your chest has to expand freely when you breathe in deeply, without any strap pulling tight or cutting in. Leather barely stretches; whatever presses when you put it on will not loosen by itself. Tingling, a numb arm or red pressure marks are the signal to loosen the buckles straight away.

What are the D-rings for?

For clipping on. A snap hook, a chain or a lead can be hooked in there. The harness is not made for restraint or suspension: never hang body weight from the rings and never jerk on them.

What kind of leather is this?

Genuine cowhide, vegetable tanned. New straps are firm and become suppler with wear.

How do you care for the leather?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wearing and let it dry in the air, not on a radiator and not in the sun. Never soak it or put it in the washing machine. A little leather balm now and then keeps the straps supple. Store the harness somewhere cool and dry, ideally hanging rather than folded.
