The Slip Falcon by Anais Men has a tie-dye pattern in which pink, orange and light blue flow softly into one another, threaded with fine, curving lines. It is framed in strong red: the wide waistband is plain red without lettering, and the leg openings have a red edge too. The legs are cut high, a pouch is worked into the front, and at the back the slip covers the buttocks. The fabric is 80% polyamide and 20% elastane. This article is size S. What is the difference between a slip and a brief?

A slip is cut higher at the leg and narrower at the sides, leaving the thighs completely free. A brief ends flatter at the leg and covers more of the hip. If you like plenty of freedom of movement and a skimpy line, the slip is the one to choose.

What is the pouch at the front for?

It is shaped with seams and gives the contents room instead of pressing them flat against the body. That provides support and shows a contour, which is intended with this kind of underwear.

Which size fits?

Take your usual size, because one size down does not look tauter but leaves marks at the waistband and legs. With 20% elastane the fabric is very stretchy and hugs the body closely. If you are between two sizes, the larger one is the more comfortable choice.

Where does the waistband sit?

It sits on the hips rather than at the waist. Because it is wide, it spreads the pressure over a larger area than a narrow elastic and so cuts in less.

How do you wash it?

Most gently by hand or on a delicate cycle at no more than 30 degrees, without fabric softener and ideally in a laundry bag. Then lay it flat to dry and leave the tumble dryer off.

Is the pattern printed?

Yes, the motif is printed onto the fabric and runs over the whole surface. It stretches as you wear it and so looks a little larger on the body than lying flat.
