Top Benito L – a bicycle print on a dark ground 🚲

From the Benito series by Anais Men, a label that deliberately treats menswear as lingerie rather than as an undershirt. As a top this model comes without sleeves, with straps over the shoulders and wide-cut armholes that leave shoulders and upper arms free; neckline and armholes are finished with a narrow black trim, and the hem ends straight at hip height. The Benito print is made up of small bicycles in light blue, yellow and red, lined up in dense rows on a black ground, a scattered pattern from a distance and a collection of miniatures up close. The fabric is 94% polyamide and 6% elastane and therefore brings enough stretch to follow the body line instead of hanging boxily over it. Polyamide with elastane does breathe less than cotton, though; for an evening that makes no difference, for a long day it does. The briefs in the pictures are not included. Which size should I take?

This top is size L. It is best to choose the size you also wear in other close-fitting tops.

Is this underwear or outerwear?

Both work; it is meant as lingerie. The cut sits close enough to disappear under a shirt, and the print is striking enough to wear it on its own. How you use it is up to you.

How do I wash it?

Most gently by hand in cool water with a little mild detergent and together with similar colours. Do not wring it afterwards; press the water out gently and let the top dry flat in the air, which is quick with this fabric anyway. Fabric softener and the tumble dryer are best left out.
