Which thickness suits you?

The thinner one first. You reach for the thicker one only once the thinner one glides without any pressure at all. That can take weeks, and that is fine.

What do you need to watch for safety?

Cleanliness, patience and how it feels. Use the sound only freshly cleaned and disinfected, together with sterile water-based lubricant; you will find a selection under water-based lubricant. Never push with force, but let it glide by its own weight. At any pain, burning or blood you stop at once; if bleeding does not stop, have a doctor take a look.

How do you hold the sound?

By the smooth end, loosely between thumb and forefinger. That way you feel any resistance at once and can pause before pressure builds up. A firm fist grip takes that feeling away.

How do you clean the ribbing?

With warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. The brush reaches the grooves, where lubricant otherwise clings. Then you can boil the sound; stainless steel takes that. Let it dry completely and store it protected from dust.

What do you do after play?

Draw it out slowly and pass water. Pull the sound out without a jerk, as calmly as it glided in, and go to the toilet afterwards. If it keeps burning afterwards, take a longer break before you use it again.
